English for Speakers of Other Languages

Welcome! This is my 8th year in Nazareth working with English language learners.  I graduated from Bloomsburg University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in elementary and early childhood education.  I completed my master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at Penn State and the University of Turabo.  Along with my teaching degrees I am certified in middle level language arts and am a National Writing Project Fellow. I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  My husband and I have two-year old twin boys. They keep us busy. We like being outside and taking our dog Rusty for walks.

ESOL Documents

What is ESOL?

The primary goal of the ESOL program is to increase the English language proficiency of limited English proficient students so that they can meet state and district academic standards and thus be successful in school. A related goal is to increase these students' English language proficiency so that they can fully and successfully participate in all mainstreamed classes at an age-appropriate grade level.

To meet these goals, the objectives of ESOL instruction are the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English, and the provision of an educational environment which helps the ESL student understand and cope with a new culture. An ESOL program is provided in each district school where at least one student attends who is in need of ESOL instruction.

ACCESS for ELLs Test Window is January 14 - February 22, 2019
